- Oral diseases are the most common non-communicable diseases around the world.
- Severe gum diseases that may lead to tooth loss are ranked eleventh on the list of preventable diseases.
- Dental treatment costs 5% of total health spending, and 20% of personal spending.
- Lack of attention to oral hygiene and lack of fluoride are among the most common causes of oral and dental diseases.
- Oral diseases can cause pain and inflammation that may lead to problems eating and speaking and can also affect social interaction and work.
